TOP END, KAKADU NATIONAL PARK and VICTORIA RIVER | 7 DAYS / 6 NIGHTS
DAY 1 - Pick up from your accommodation in Darwin around 7 am and spend the morning birding at one of Darwin's many nature reserves, which one will depend on what the group wants to target. Lunch at your choice of venue in Darwin City before heading East toward Kakadu National Park. The hottest part of the day will be spent driving out to Kakadu National Park stopping along the way at Mamakala Wetlands and the South Alligator Floodplains.
After checking in at our hotel in Jabiru we will then head South toward Nawurlandja to bird our first Arnhemland Sandstone and watch the sunset. Targets here are Banded Fruit-dove, Partridge Pigeon, Chestnut-quilled Rock-pigeon, White-lined Honeyeater, Sandstone Shrike-thrush and the Sandstone race of Helmeted Friarbird.

After the walk our next spot is Ubirr for the rest of the morning. This spectacular view over the floodplain can also be a great place for Chestnut-quilled Rock-pigeon and Sandstone Shrike-thrush. This is also a great place to see Short-eared Rock Wallaby.
If the tide is right we will check out Cahill crossing to see its famous crocodiles feeding together then it will be time to head back for lunch.
After a break in the middle of the day we will head to Nourlangie to clean up any of the endemics we have missed, this is also a great spot to see some aboriginal artwork.

The afternoon is spent around Pine Creek tracking down the endemic Hooded Parrot and Partridge Pigeon.

After a morning around Edith Falls we head South to Katherine for lunch before heading West to the Victoria River Region about 200 km west, along the way we will stop at a few secret spots to see what we can find. The afternoon at Victoria River can be spent searching for Purple-crowned Fairy-wrens along the banks of the Victoria River or go and look for White-quilled Rock-pigeons which are found up on the escarpments.
Accommodation - Victoria River Roadhouse
Meals included: (B, L, D).
DAY 5 - The morning will be spent around the roadhouse at Victoria River looking for Purple-crowned Fairy-wrens, Birds of Prey and Finches. We will then start head west to Timber Creek and our accommodation for the night, this is one of my favourite birding areas in the Northern Territory. Depending on what species we need to photograph or tick off our lists will determine where we spend our time today. There are a huge amount of sites in the area and depending on the amount of water and grass around will depend on where we go.
Accommodation - Timber Creek Hotel (http://timbercreekhotel.com.au/)

DAY 6 - A couple of options this morning; we can get up early and head East to another finch drinking hole with chances of Chestnut-breasted Mannikin, Star Finch, Zebra Finch, Yellow-rumped Mannikin and Gouldian Finch or an easy morning birding around Timber Creek for things like Buff-sided Robin, Yellow-rumped Mannikin, Great Bowerbird and Red-backed Kingfisher.
After a morning in the area we start heading back East and to our accommodation in Katherine for the night, after checking in we will bird one of the many sites around Katherine ether looking for Chestnut-backed Button-quail or head South to look for the rare Northern Crested Shrike-tit.
